DAPHNE

Institute of Applied Ecology

is an organisation dedicated to nature conservation and restoration and environmental education.
The name DAPHNE derives from our first project, which was focused on the conservation of an endemic plant, Daphne arbuscula.
Our activities cover several areas:
Nature Conservation and Restoration
Since 1993, we have been dedicated to nature conservation, focusing also on non-forest ecosystems and their restoration – endangered meadows, wetlands, peatlands, salt marshes and sand dunes. We utilise applied research methods in the conservation, restoration and management of protected areas. We specialise in monitoring of species and habitats, mapping of habitats, designing of restoration plans aimed at revitalising habitats, and preparing management programmes.
Environmental Education
We regard it as a vital part of the nature conservation or restoration process, and it is therefore an integral part of every project. In addition to project-based educational activities, we have been delivering environmental education in nursery and primary schools for over 25 years, offering eco-education programmes and field trips based on experiential, exploratory and playful approaches. Through these, we strive to foster a positive relationship with nature.
Expert Publications and Educational Materials
We publish professional and educational materials in the field of nature conservation and environmental education.
Teacher Training
We organise methodological seminars, produce methodological guides, and run creative workshops and experiential seminars. To date, more than 128,000 pupils and 2,560 teachers have taken part in our programmes. We have published 18 methodological guides.
Organizing Team-building events and Hands-on volunteering
A team-building where participants carry out manual work and see the results straight away, is a brilliant break from the daily routine and helps to strengthen relationships within the company. If you’re interested, we can also organise an experiential programme for employees’ children. If you’d like to spend your time in a meaningful way and contribute to nature conservation and restoration, please get in touch. Together, we’ll discuss a suitable date and discuss further details.
